Maestra Martinez
I graduated from Long Beach City College in 1995 and then transferred to Cal State Long Beach, to major in nursing. However, I changed my major to teaching after working in a school for about 10 years as an Instructional Aide. I graduated with my Bachelors in Liberal Studies and obtained my teaching credential in 2000. After 17 years of teaching I decided to go back to school. I attended Grand Canyon University in Arizona (all online classes) and got my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction.
As I was going through college, I worked as an Instructional Aide for about 10 years. As soon as I graduated with my Bachelors and Teaching Credential I was offered a job at the school I was working at. I began my career in the year 2000. I taught 1st grade and 2nd grade in Long Unified School District for about 4 years. I moved Banning, Ca and soon began teaching here in San Jacinto Unified since 2004. I've taught mostly 2nd grade, one year in 3rd, and one year a combo 2/3. This will be my 22nd year of teaching.
I moved to Long Beach the year I graduated Garfield High School in East Los Angeles.. (The famous school.... based on the movie "Stand and Deliver" with Jaime Escalante played by Edward James Olmos. Oh and I was also in the graduating class with Oscar de La Hoya.
Now, I am living here in San Jacinto. I have lived here in San Jacinto for 9 years. I feel very fortune to be able to work in the community where I live.
I met my husband 25 years ago in Long Beach. I am married and have 4 children, ages 23, 21, 17, 9. I also have 2 grandchildren ages 2.
I enjoy dancing, swimming and just spending time with my family and friends.
