Benito's allowable Quinto hello there student welcome to the story time today story is Marco's Cinco de Mayo written by Lisa and illustrator Holly Conger Chapter 1 what is Cinco de Mayo High see my costumes it's for Cinco de Mayo it's a holiday that started in Mexico people there speak Spanish means the 5th of May in Spanish Mexico is a neighbor of the United States many people have moved from Mexico live in the United States many people in the United States have family members in Mexico my family we celebrate Cinco de Mayo here in the United States to has a big parade there are games carnival rides music and dancing so yummy Mexican food is the best part Cinco de Mayo celebrations are popular many US cities what's the problem I haven't even had time to know I'm one of the dancers lots of people are here to what what if I forget all the steps in front of other people wear costumes for the costumes are based on different times and places in Mexico's history there is my cousin vehicle he's the one who taught me this dance last night Diego told me story he said it would help if I felt afraid there's three Braven proud Diego told me about the first Cinco de Mayo it happened about a hundred and fifty years ago France sent many soldiers to Mexico to study War people start their friends pictures for the best in the world Spain build Mexico for hundreds of years and Mexicans fought a war to be free from Spain from 1810 to 1821 when the French soldiers came in 1861 the Mexicans got worried they did not want to lose their freedom again 1862 Enterprise Mesa the Mexican people remember Cinco de Mayo at the kids fight and that they had finally won I can be brave and proud to listen to the mariachi band while I wait to go on stage suddenly my feet are ready to dance important facts music has been popular in Mexico for a long time but yet sea bands used instruments at the violins guitars and trumpet the band members were fancy costumes chapter 4 the taco battle says I did a great job dancing it sure made me hungry we have a charcoal eating battle I eat you more than two ankle straps around a ceiling are Mexican bread they are flat and round Boom the fireworks Flash the colors of the Mexican flag Cinco de Mayo is almost over but tomorrow I'm going to practice dancing again I will be ready to dance again next May 5th
